Tell us a bit about your mom blog:
Hey, Donna! is the blog I’ve always wanted. I’ve blogged for 3 years on an older blog, focusing on homemaking and faith. Then in my overconfident, crazy way, I started a second blog about my GEEKY side. It was too much! Who was I kidding!? One blog is plenty for this gal. So I packed up the other blogs and moved them over here! Ahh… everything in one neat little package!
How long have you lived in South Central PA?
I moved to PA from Connecticut about 10 years ago after spending 6 months in Australia with YWAM (Youth With A Mission). I originally moved to the area to help a local church start a coffee house but later decided to stay when I met my husband. I live in Lancaster County and I can’t think of a better place to raise a family!
Tell us a bit about your family
My husband Kevin and I have 2 children Claire, 5 years old and Caleb aged 3. We love spending time outside in our garden and caring for our backyard chickens. We will be homeschooling our eldest this year and look forward to exploring the area even more by having regular homeschool “field trips” in the area.
What is one [or a couple] of your favorite places to visit in the Harrisburg area?
We’ve been to the Kipona Festival in Harrisburg and had a great time! We usually go to Hershey at least once each year and the kids love the zoo, which I think is an often overlooked but great part of Hershey Park. Because we live outside of Lancaster, we love going to Lancaster’s 1st Friday events as well as a similar event held in Lititz, PA one of our favorite local towns.
What is something you want to do in the Harrisburg area?
Hands down, I want to spend a day at the Hershey Hotel Spa… As a busy work-at-home mom I could use a day of pampering and a little relaxing! We also love dining at local restaurants and would love to check out the local Harrisburg fare! The Whitaker Center is also on our “to-do” list!
Anything else you want to add?
I’ve been surprised how many local events there are for families. Be sure to check your local newspaper to find special events in your area.
